Ahh, the big city of Christchurch. For those flying in from overseas or domestically, Christchurch is one of the busiest and most convenient hubs on the South Island. It’s a fantastic starting or ending point for any trip to New Zealand and the South Island.
Although I do enjoy visiting Christchurch, I live in New Zealand so I’m certainly not on a time crunch. Those with only a short trip of less than 10 days on the South Island, shouldn’t spend too much time in Christchurch. Again, nothing against Christchurch, there’s just so much to see and a big city is pretty far down the must visit list.
With that said, there will be times when you will need to spend some time in the city. So, I do have a few guides from my visits over the years on how to spend your time best there. These include soaking in beachside hot springs to spending the day riding a tram.
Enjoy!
Best Things to do in Christchurch
Christchurch is a big city (by New Zealand standards), so there are a ton of cool and interesting things to see and do. Of course, exploring the city does make up most of these activities, but there are also tons of wildlife encounters and tons of stops for the foodies around us!
This guide includes everything I’ve done and love in the city of Christchurch!
